About

Nonlinear dynamics is a broad field extending from basic theory to concrete applications and highly valuing the interaction and feedback between different disciplines. The key challenge is that nonlinearity can create extremely complicated behavior.

A main paradigm of the field is to identify typical (or universal) phenomena that appear in a wide variety of systems. This well-proven approach makes the area useful across scientific contexts for classical as well as any emerging field. The methods employed range across the entire scale of scientific techniques from mathematical pen-and-paper approaches to large-scale computer simulations and interplay with data analysis.

The Munich Nonlinear Dynamics (MunDyn) portal is a webpage collecting information about the research groups involved in nonlinear dynamics research in the Greater Munich Area. The research groups involved in MunDyn cover a wide spectrum of application areas as well as the development of computational and theoretical approaches. We are also involved as core contributors in many interdisciplinary research projects.
